Late night shortworking trips November 7, 2007Posted by hafizbam in Something New.

Shortworking trips have been around for quite some time with a primary purpose of supplementing parent trunk routes on high demand sectors during peak hours. However, lately SMRT Buses has been introducing short trips which operate during the unlikely hours of around midnight after the last bus for the parent route leaves. The primary (and probably only) purpose for such short trips is to provide a feeder bus link for residents transferring from the last train, more so for areas without dedicated feeder services like Sembawang.
The result of such a move, which should be lauded for increasing convenience for residents, comes in the shape of 173A and 859A serving Bukit Batok and Sembawang towns respectively. TIB1171R on daytime 859 is illustrated above as it is very difficult to stay awake so late, let alone snap a proper night shot of the buses running the short trips.
